Глава 2

1 После сего вопросил Давид Господа, и сказал: идти ли мне в один из городов Иудиных? Господь сказал ему: иди! И сказал Давид: куда идти мне? Он сказал: в Хеврон.

2 И пошел туда Давид, и обе жены его, Ахиноамь Изреелитянка, и Авигаиль, бывшая жена Навала, Кармилитянка,

3 Также и люди, которые были с ним, - повел Давид каждого с семейством его, и стали жить в городах Хевронских.

4 И пришли Иудеи, и помазали там Давида в царя над домом Иудиным. Между тем донесли Давиду, и сказали, что жители Иависа Галаадского похоронили Саула.

5 И послал Давид послов к жителям Иависа Галаадского, и сказал им: благословенны вы Господом, что сделали милость сию с господином вашим Саулом и похоронили его.

6 Да явит вам Господь милость и истину, и я сделаю вам такое же благодеяние, за то, что вы сие сделали.

7 И теперь да будут крепки руки ваши и будьте мужественны, когда умер господин ваш Саул, и меня помазал дом Иудин в царя над собою.

8 Но Авнер, сын Нера, военачальник Саулов, взял Ишбошефа, сына Саулова, и повел его в Маханаим.

9 И поставил его царем над Галаадом, и над Ассуриянами, и над Изреелем, и над Ефремом, и над Вениамином, и над всем Израилем.

10 Сорок лет было Ишбошефу, сыну Саулову, когда он начал царствовать над Израилем, и царствовал два года. Только дом Иудин был за Давидом.

11 Число времени, которое Давид царствовал в Хевроне над домом Иудиным, было семь лет и шесть месяцев.

12 И пошел Авнер, сын Нера, и слуги Ишбошефа, сына Саулова, из Маханаима в Гаваон.

13 А Иоав, сын Церуи, и слуги Давидовы пошли, и встретились с ними у Гаваонского пруда, и стали одни по одну сторону пруда, другие по другую сторону пруда.

14 И сказал Авнер Иоаву: пусть встанут отроки сии и поиграют пред нами; и сказал Иоав: пусть встанут.

15 И встали и вышли в равном числе: двенадцать с стороны Вениамина и Ишбошефа, сына Саулова, и двенадцать из слуг Давидовых.

16 И схватили друг друга за голову, и вонзили меч друг другу в бок, и пали вместе. От сего называется то место Хелкатгаццурим, что в Гаваоне.

17 И произошло в тот день весьма жестокое сражение, и поражен Авнер и Израильтяне слугами Давида.

18 Там были три сына Церуины: Иоав, Авишай и Асаил. Асаил был легок ногами своими, как полевая серна.

19 И погнался Асаил за Авнером, и не уклонялся в пути ни направо, ни налево от Авнера.

20 Авнер оглянулся назад и сказал: ты ли это, Асаил? Он сказал: я.

21 И сказал ему Авнер: уклонись направо или налево и схвати одного из отроков сих, и возьми себе одежду его. Но Асаил не хотел отстать от него.

22 Авнер опять сказал Асаилу: отстань от меня; к чему доводить до того, чтоб я поверг тебя на землю? и как я покажу лице мое Иоаву, брату твоему?

23 Но он не хотел отстать. И поразил его Авнер задним концем копья в нижнюю часть чрева так, что копье прошло сквозь его, и он тут упал, и умер на том же месте. Все проходившие мимо того места, на котором пал Асаил и умер, останавливались.

24 Между тем Иоав и Авишай гнались за Авнером и при захождении солнца пришли они к холму Амме, который находится пред Гиахом, на дороге к пустыне Гаваонской.

25 Сыны Вениаминовы, следовавшие за Авнером, собрались, и соединившись в одно полчище, стояли на вершине одного холма.

26 И закричал Авнер Иоаву, и сказал: вечно ли поядать мечу? Разве не знаешь, что последствия будут горестны? Доколе не скажешь народу, чтобы он возвратился от преследования братьев своих?

27 И сказал Иоав: жив Бог! если бы ты не вызывал, то еще с утра не стал бы народ преследовать братьев своих.

28 И затрубил Иоав трубою, и остановился весь народ, и не стали преследовать Израиля, и не стали уже вести войну.

29 Авнер и люди его шли равниною всю ту ночь, и, перешедши Иордан, прошли весь Битрон, и пришли в Маханаим.

30 А Иоав, возвратившись от преследования Авнера, собрал весь народ и по осмотре не нашлось из слуг Давидовых девятнадцати человек, и Асаила.

31 Слуги же Давидовы поразили из (сынов) Вениаминовых и людей Авнеровых триста шестьдесят человек, которые и умерли.

32 И взяли Асаила и похоронили его во гробе отца его, что в Вифлееме, и шли всю ночь Иоав и люди его; и рассвело им уже в Хевроне.

Chapter 2

1 AND it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, To Hebron.

2 So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail, Nabal's wife, the Carmelite.

3 And David and his men who were with him went up together, every man with his household; and they dwelt in Hebron.

4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.

5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, Blessed be you of the LORD, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him.

6 And now may the LORD show kindness and truth to you; and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing.

7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.

8 But Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul's army, took Ashbashul, the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;

9 And made him king over Gilead and over Geshur and over Jezreel and over Ephraim and over Benjamin and over all Israel.

10 Ashbashul Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.

11 And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

12 And Abner the son of Ner and the servants of Ashbashul the son of Saul went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.

13 And Joab the son of Zoriah and the men of David went out and met the young men together in Gibeon; and they sat down, these young men on the one side and the other young men on the other.

14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

15 Then there arose and went over by number twelve of the men of Benjamin, who belonged to Ashbashul the son of Saul and twelve of the men of David.

16 And every man caught his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in the other's side; so they fell down together; therefore they called that place Haklath-zadan, which is in Gibeon.

17 And there was a very fierce battle that day; and Abner was defeated, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

18 And there were three sons of Zoriah there, Joab, Abishai, and Ashael; and Ashael was as swift of foot as a desert gazelle.

19 And Ashael pursued Abner; and he turned not to the right hand nor to the left as he followed Abner.

20 Then Abner looked behind him and said, Is that you, Ashael? And he answered, It is I.

21 And Abner said to him, Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and seize one of the young men and take for yourself his armor. But Ashael would not turn aside from following him.

22 And Abner spoke again to Ashael, to turn from following him, saying, Turn from following me, lest I smite you and throw you on the ground; how then could I lift up my face and look at Joab your brother.

23 But he refused to turn; therefore Abner smote him with the end of the spear upon his breast, and the spear came out at his back; and he fell down there and died in the same place; and all who came to the place where Ashael fell down and died stood still.

24 Then Joab and Abishai arose and pursued Abner; and the sun went down when they came to lake Giboath which lies before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

25 And the Benjamites gathered themselves together behind Abner, and became one company, and stood on the top of a hill.

26 Then Abner called to Joab and said, Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that there will be bitterness in the end? How long will it be then before you bid the people return from following their brethren?

27 And Joab said, As the LORD lives, unless you had spoken, surely in the morning I would have let the people give up every one from pursuing his brother.

28 So Joab blew the trumpet, and all the people stood still and pursued Israel no more, neither did they fight any more.

29 And Abner and his men walked all that night in the desert, and crossed the Jordan, and went toward Geshur, and they came to Mahanaim.

30 And Joab returned from following Abner; and when he had gathered all the people together and they were numbered, there were twelve wounded of David's men, and Ashael was dead.

31 But the men of David had slain of Benjamin and of Abner, three hundred and sixty men.

32 And they took Ashael and buried him in the sepulchre of his father in Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men marched all night, and the day dawned upon them at Hebron.

1 AND it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, To Hebron.

2 И пошел туда Давид, и обе жены его, Ахиноамь Изреелитянка, и Авигаиль, бывшая жена Навала, Кармилитянка,

2 So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail, Nabal's wife, the Carmelite.

3 Также и люди, которые были с ним, - повел Давид каждого с семейством его, и стали жить в городах Хевронских.

3 And David and his men who were with him went up together, every man with his household; and they dwelt in Hebron.

4 И пришли Иудеи, и помазали там Давида в царя над домом Иудиным. Между тем донесли Давиду, и сказали, что жители Иависа Галаадского похоронили Саула.

4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.

5 И послал Давид послов к жителям Иависа Галаадского, и сказал им: благословенны вы Господом, что сделали милость сию с господином вашим Саулом и похоронили его.

5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, Blessed be you of the LORD, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him.

6 Да явит вам Господь милость и истину, и я сделаю вам такое же благодеяние, за то, что вы сие сделали.

6 And now may the LORD show kindness and truth to you; and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing.

7 И теперь да будут крепки руки ваши и будьте мужественны, когда умер господин ваш Саул, и меня помазал дом Иудин в царя над собою.

7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.

8 Но Авнер, сын Нера, военачальник Саулов, взял Ишбошефа, сына Саулова, и повел его в Маханаим.

8 But Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul's army, took Ashbashul, the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;

9 И поставил его царем над Галаадом, и над Ассуриянами, и над Изреелем, и над Ефремом, и над Вениамином, и над всем Израилем.

9 And made him king over Gilead and over Geshur and over Jezreel and over Ephraim and over Benjamin and over all Israel.

10 Сорок лет было Ишбошефу, сыну Саулову, когда он начал царствовать над Израилем, и царствовал два года. Только дом Иудин был за Давидом.

10 Ashbashul Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.

11 Число времени, которое Давид царствовал в Хевроне над домом Иудиным, было семь лет и шесть месяцев.

11 And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

12 И пошел Авнер, сын Нера, и слуги Ишбошефа, сына Саулова, из Маханаима в Гаваон.

12 And Abner the son of Ner and the servants of Ashbashul the son of Saul went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.

13 А Иоав, сын Церуи, и слуги Давидовы пошли, и встретились с ними у Гаваонского пруда, и стали одни по одну сторону пруда, другие по другую сторону пруда.

13 And Joab the son of Zoriah and the men of David went out and met the young men together in Gibeon; and they sat down, these young men on the one side and the other young men on the other.

14 И сказал Авнер Иоаву: пусть встанут отроки сии и поиграют пред нами; и сказал Иоав: пусть встанут.

14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

15 И встали и вышли в равном числе: двенадцать с стороны Вениамина и Ишбошефа, сына Саулова, и двенадцать из слуг Давидовых.

15 Then there arose and went over by number twelve of the men of Benjamin, who belonged to Ashbashul the son of Saul and twelve of the men of David.

16 И схватили друг друга за голову, и вонзили меч друг другу в бок, и пали вместе. От сего называется то место Хелкатгаццурим, что в Гаваоне.

16 And every man caught his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in the other's side; so they fell down together; therefore they called that place Haklath-zadan, which is in Gibeon.

17 И произошло в тот день весьма жестокое сражение, и поражен Авнер и Израильтяне слугами Давида.

17 And there was a very fierce battle that day; and Abner was defeated, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

18 Там были три сына Церуины: Иоав, Авишай и Асаил. Асаил был легок ногами своими, как полевая серна.

18 And there were three sons of Zoriah there, Joab, Abishai, and Ashael; and Ashael was as swift of foot as a desert gazelle.

19 И погнался Асаил за Авнером, и не уклонялся в пути ни направо, ни налево от Авнера.

19 And Ashael pursued Abner; and he turned not to the right hand nor to the left as he followed Abner.

20 Авнер оглянулся назад и сказал: ты ли это, Асаил? Он сказал: я.

20 Then Abner looked behind him and said, Is that you, Ashael? And he answered, It is I.

21 И сказал ему Авнер: уклонись направо или налево и схвати одного из отроков сих, и возьми себе одежду его. Но Асаил не хотел отстать от него.

21 And Abner said to him, Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and seize one of the young men and take for yourself his armor. But Ashael would not turn aside from following him.

22 Авнер опять сказал Асаилу: отстань от меня; к чему доводить до того, чтоб я поверг тебя на землю? и как я покажу лице мое Иоаву, брату твоему?

22 And Abner spoke again to Ashael, to turn from following him, saying, Turn from following me, lest I smite you and throw you on the ground; how then could I lift up my face and look at Joab your brother.

23 Но он не хотел отстать. И поразил его Авнер задним концем копья в нижнюю часть чрева так, что копье прошло сквозь его, и он тут упал, и умер на том же месте. Все проходившие мимо того места, на котором пал Асаил и умер, останавливались.

25 Сыны Вениаминовы, следовавшие за Авнером, собрались, и соединившись в одно полчище, стояли на вершине одного холма.

25 And the Benjamites gathered themselves together behind Abner, and became one company, and stood on the top of a hill.

26 И закричал Авнер Иоаву, и сказал: вечно ли поядать мечу? Разве не знаешь, что последствия будут горестны? Доколе не скажешь народу, чтобы он возвратился от преследования братьев своих?

26 Then Abner called to Joab and said, Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that there will be bitterness in the end? How long will it be then before you bid the people return from following their brethren?

27 И сказал Иоав: жив Бог! если бы ты не вызывал, то еще с утра не стал бы народ преследовать братьев своих.

27 And Joab said, As the LORD lives, unless you had spoken, surely in the morning I would have let the people give up every one from pursuing his brother.

28 И затрубил Иоав трубою, и остановился весь народ, и не стали преследовать Израиля, и не стали уже вести войну.

28 So Joab blew the trumpet, and all the people stood still and pursued Israel no more, neither did they fight any more.

29 Авнер и люди его шли равниною всю ту ночь, и, перешедши Иордан, прошли весь Битрон, и пришли в Маханаим.

29 And Abner and his men walked all that night in the desert, and crossed the Jordan, and went toward Geshur, and they came to Mahanaim.

30 А Иоав, возвратившись от преследования Авнера, собрал весь народ и по осмотре не нашлось из слуг Давидовых девятнадцати человек, и Асаила.

30 And Joab returned from following Abner; and when he had gathered all the people together and they were numbered, there were twelve wounded of David's men, and Ashael was dead.

31 Слуги же Давидовы поразили из (сынов) Вениаминовых и людей Авнеровых триста шестьдесят человек, которые и умерли.

31 But the men of David had slain of Benjamin and of Abner, three hundred and sixty men.

32 И взяли Асаила и похоронили его во гробе отца его, что в Вифлееме, и шли всю ночь Иоав и люди его; и рассвело им уже в Хевроне.

32 And they took Ashael and buried him in the sepulchre of his father in Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men marched all night, and the day dawned upon them at Hebron.
